The gross domestic product of Romania expanded by 0.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, matching the second estimate and the previous three-month period.
The economic growth was mainly driven by expansion recorded in household consumptions (0.6%).
On the other hand, government spending (0.2%) and gross fixed capital formation declined (-0.1%).
Net external demand also contributed negatively to the GDP, as imports (2.5%) rose more than exports (1.8%).
On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the country’s economy grew by 1.2% in Q2, marking the strongest expansion since Q4 2022, after a downwardly revised flat reading in the preceding period.
