Romania Posts Smallest Trade Deficit in 3 Months

Romania’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 2.5 billion in September 2025, from EUR 2.6 billion in the same month last year, marking the smallest monthly deficit since June.
Exports rose 9.2% year-on-year to EUR 8.9 billion, driven mainly by higher sales to EU countries (up 3.1%) and non-EU countries (up 7.0%).
Meanwhile, imports increased 6.2% year-on-year to EUR 11.4 billion, supported by higher purchases from EU countries (up 3.7%) and non-EU countries (up 5.5%).
For the first nine months of the year, the trade deficit widened to EUR 24.5 billion, compared with EUR 23.5 billion in the same period of 2024.
