Portugal Consumer Confidence Continues to Worsen

The consumer confidence indicator in Portugal further worsened to -16.5 in September 2025, from -16.2 in the previous month.
Consumers showed increased pessimism regarding the economic situation over the past twelve months (-37.2 vs -35.7 in August), but expectations for the next twelve months were slightly less negative (-25.4 vs -25.6).
Meanwhile, expectations for household financial conditions over the next year became less negative (-2.6% vs -3.7%), as did their perceptions of the past year (-8.2 vs -10.7).
Moreover, sentiment around the timing of major purchases improved, with consumers becoming less pessimistic (-52.5 vs -58).
