Norway Manufacturing Output Recovers in March

Norway’s manufacturing production rose 5.4% month-over-month in March 2024, recovering from a downwardly revised 1% fall in February.
Rebounds were seen in manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather (8.7% vs -0.5% in February), refined petroleum, chemicals & pharmaceuticals (5.8% vs -5.2%), rubber, plastic & mineral products (7.5% vs -3.8%), and furniture & manufacturing (11.3% vs -1.8%), offsetting the declines in production of wood & wood products (-0.4% vs 1.3%), paper & paper products (-1.4% vs 0.4%), basic chemicals (-0.5% vs 8.3%) and non-ferrous metals (-3% vs 0.8%).
On a yearly basis, manufacturing activity accelerated to 5.7% in March, following a revised 2% drop in February.
