Dutch Manufacturing Output Declines in November

Manufacturing production in the Netherlands fell by 0.5% month-over-month in November 2025, reversing an upwardly revised 0.4% decline in October.

This marked the sharpest contraction since July, as output dropped the most in textile (-3.7% vs 2.1% in October), leather and shoes (-3.6% vs 3.0%), paper (-5.0% vs 6.9%), petroleum (-0.3% vs 26.0%), pharmaceuticals (-5.1% vs 4.0%), basic metals (-7.7% vs 1.6%), and electrical equipment (-9.0% vs 12.9%).

Declines were also recorded in rubber and plastic (-1.3% vs 1.2%), building materials (-0.6% vs 0.3%), graphics (-1.2% vs 3.5%), metal products (-2.1% vs 2.0%), and other transportation equipment (-2.4% vs 2.1%).

In contrast, production rebounded in food (0.2% vs -0.6%), chemicals (1.8% vs -1.2%), electricals (5.2% vs -11.1%), automotive and trailers (9.9% vs -4.3%), and furniture (1.4% vs -2.2%).

On a yearly basis, manufacturing output rose 0.7%, easing from 2.1% in the previous month.

Dutch Manufacturing Output Rebounds in October
Manufacturing production in the Netherlands rose 0.2% month-over-month in October 2025, rebounding from a revised 0.3% fall in September. Output increased for leather and shoes (3.2% vs -0.9% in September), paper (6.7% vs -5.7%), graphics (-2.8% vs 2.8%), petroleum (17.4% vs -14.1%), rubber and plastics (1% vs -0.8%), and basic metals (2.4% vs -0.4%). Production also recovered for other transportation equipment (1.4% vs -1.8%) and metal products (1.1% vs -0.4%), while growth rose further for electrical equipment (13.4% vs 5.8%). On the other hand, output grew at a softer pace for textiles (1.8% vs 3%), wood (1.1% vs 2.6%), and pharmaceuticals (2.8% vs 11.1%). On a yearly basis, manufacturing activity increased 1.9%, easing from 2.4% growth in September.

Dutch Manufacturing Output Growth Slows Sharply
Manufacturing production in the Netherlands edged up 0.1% month-over-month in September 2025, sharply slowing from an upwardly revised 2% gain in the previous month. Still, it marked the second consecutive monthly increase in output. Growth eased notably for electrical equipment (1.7% vs 3.0% in August), machinery (1.0% vs 2.5%), and other manufactured goods (1.7% vs 3.9%). Meanwhile, output declined for food (-0.1% vs 2.4%), leather and footwear (-0.9% vs 8.0%), building materials (-2.0% vs 4.0%), automotive and trailers (-12.2% vs 5.1%), and textiles (-0.2% vs -0.5%). In contrast, production recovered for chemicals (0.1% vs -0.1%), pharmaceuticals (10.8% vs -5.7%), basic metals (0.2% vs -0.3%), metal products (flat vs -0.7%), and furniture (1.4% vs -3.0%), while accelerating for clothing (1.0% vs 0.6%). On a yearly basis, manufacturing activity expanded 2.1%, rebounding from a flat reading in August and posting the strongest growth since March 2023.
