Malta Producer Inflation Steady at 1.5% in June

Producer prices in Malta increased 1.5% year-on-year in June 2026, matching the revised reading in the previous month and remaining at their highest level since October 2023 for a second consecutive month.

Energy prices were unchanged from the previous month.

Meanwhile, inflation eased for intermediate goods (2.7% vs. 2.9%) and capital goods (5.0% vs. 5.1%), while consumer goods prices were flat after declining 0.4% in the previous month.

Within consumer goods, durable goods held steady at 0.1%, while non-durable goods were also unchanged after falling 0.5% in May.

By market, producer inflation accelerated for both the domestic market (1.0% vs. 0.9%) and the non-domestic market (2.1% vs. 2.0%), although growth for exports to the Euro Area eased slightly (3.3% vs. 3.4%) while that for non-Euro Area markets picked up (1.0% vs. 0.8%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices were unchanged in June, after rising 1.2% in the previous month.

Malta Producer Inflation Highest since Oct 2023
Producer prices in Malta rose 1.4% year-on-year in May 2026, the highest since October 2023, following a 0.9% increase in April. Inflation accelerated for capital goods (5.1% vs 3.2% in April), and intermediate goods (2.9% vs 2%). On the other hand, a decline of 0.6% was registered in consumer goods. No price change occurred in the energy sector. Non-domestic prices increased by 1.9%. The prices of goods destined for the Euro Area went up by 3.5%, while those destined for the non-Euro Area increased by 0.6%. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.2%.

Malta Producer Inflation Unchanged in April
Producer prices in Malta rose 0.9% year-on-year in April 2026, matching the pace recorded in March. Inflation accelerated for intermediate goods (2.0% versus 1.6%), while easing for capital goods (3.2% versus 4.0%). At the same time, deflation in consumer goods deepened slightly (-0.6% versus -0.5%), with durable goods prices rising by 0.1% and non-durable goods deflation increased (-0.6% versus -0.5%). Energy costs remained unchanged at 0%. By territory, producer inflation softened for both domestic markets (1.3% versus 1.5%) and non-domestic markets (0.4% versus 0.5%). On a monthly basis, producer prices remained unchanged in April, following a 0.3% decline in March.
