Lithuania Retail Sales Growth Slows in July

Retail sales in Lithuania eased to 6.0% year-on-year in July 2026 from an upwardly revised 6.4% in the previous month.

This marked the weakest growth in five months, as sales moderated in retail trade excluding automotive sales (8.2% vs. 10.1% in June) and non-food products (12.3% vs. 13.8%), particularly textiles, clothing, and footwear (10.7% vs. 11.5%) and information and communication equipment, cultural and recreation goods, watches, and jewelry (0.7% vs. 4.4%).

Moreover, retail activity via mail-order houses or the internet slowed sharply (7.0% vs. 17.2%), while sales of food, beverages, and tobacco (2.6% vs. 4.9%) and other goods in specialized stores (26.3% vs. 34.3%) also moderated.

In contrast, sales of automotive fuel declined at a softer pace (-2.3% vs. -7.0%).

On a monthly basis, retail sales grew by 0.8%, following an upwardly revised 0.6% increase in the preceding period.

Retail sales in Lithuania rose 5.8% year-on-year in June 2026, easing from a revised 6.9% increase in the previous month and marking the weakest growth rate since February. Sales growth moderated in retail trade excluding automotive sales (9.3% vs 9.6% in May), non-food products (12.5% vs 14.3%), particularly textiles, clothing, and footwear (11.4% vs 12.7%), audio, video, hardware, furniture, and lighting (14.4% vs 16.4%), and information and communication equipment, cultural and recreation goods, watches and jewellery (2.6% vs 5.1%). At the same time, retail activity via mail order houses or the internet slowed (14.6% vs 19.8%), while sales of automotive fuel declined further (-6.9% vs -3.5%). Conversely, sales rose for other goods in non-specialized stores (34% vs 24.1%) food, beverages, and tobacco (4.7% vs 3.1%), and pharmaceuticals, medical goods, and cosmetics (11.9% vs 10.4%). On a monthly basis, retail sales grew 0.3% in June, rebounding from a revised 1% decline in May.

Lithuania Retail Sales Growth Slows in May
Retail sales in Lithuania rose 7.4% year-on-year in May 2026, easing from an upwardly revised 9.8% in the previous month. Sales growth moderated across several categories, including retail trade excluding automotive fuel (10.2% vs. 12.5% in April), non-food products (15.3% vs. 20.7%), audio, video, hardware, furniture and lighting (18% vs. 23.9%), information and communication equipment, cultural and recreation goods, watches, jewellery and other new goods (5.7% vs. 9.1%), pharmaceuticals, medical goods and cosmetics (10.9% vs. 14%), and sales via mail order houses or the Internet (22% vs. 36.8%). At the same time, sales of automotive fuel declined further (-3.5% vs. -0.6%). On the other hand, sales accelerated for food, beverages and tobacco (3% vs. 1.6%) and textiles, clothing and footwear (12.3% vs. 7.9%). On a monthly basis, retail sales fell 0.7% in May, reversing a revised 2.4% increase in April and marking the weakest growth since February.
