Lithuania Retail Sales Rise the Most Since 2022

Retail sales in Lithuania advanced 9.3% year-on-year in January 2026, following a 2.4% rise in the previous month.
This marked the highest reading since February 2022, as activity rose in food, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco (2.8% vs 1.9%), non-food products (10.2% vs 7.2%), and pharmaceutical, medical goods, and cosmetics (10.6% vs 7.1%).
At the same time, trade rebounded sharply in sales of automotive fuel (19.3% vs -7.7%).
On the other hand, sales growth slowed in audio, video, hardware, furniture, and lighting in specialized stores (1.4% vs 1.6%), while it contracted further in sales of information and communication equipment, cultural and recreation goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods in specialized stores (-1.7% vs 1.4%).
On a monthly basis, retail sales rose by 0.5% in January from 0.4% in the preceding period.
