Lithuania Inflation Rate Highest in Nearly 3 Years

Lithuania’s annual inflation rate rose to 5.7% in June 2026 from 5.5% in the previous month, marking the highest level since September 2023. Prices increased at a faster pace for housing and utilities (12.0% vs 8.3% in May), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.8% vs 7.7%), furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (1.2% vs 0.8%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.1% vs 0.0%), health (3.8% vs 3.6%), education (5.0% vs 4.4%), insurance and financial services (5.6% vs 5.0%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.8% vs 4.7%). Additionally, clothing and footwear prices rebounded (1.7% vs -0.6%). Meanwhile, inflation eased in transport (13.4% vs 16.2%), information and communication (3.1% vs 3.6%), recreation, sport, and culture (5.8% vs 6.1%), and restaurants and accommodation (6.1% vs 6.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.5% in June after falling 0.1% in the previous month.

Prices increased faster for housing and utilities (8.3% vs 7.1% in April), transport (16.2% vs 14.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.7% vs 7.6%), health (3.6% vs 2.8%), information and communication (3.6% vs 2.8%), education (4.4% vs 3.5%), restaurants and accommodation (6.5% vs 6.3%), insurance and financial services (5.0% vs 4.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (4.7% vs 4.1%). Conversely, prices were unchanged for food and non-alcoholic beverages after rising 0.9% previously, while inflation eased in furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (0.8% vs 2.0%) and recreation, sport, and culture (6.7% vs 7.3%). Deflation also continued in clothing and footwear (-0.6% vs -0.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.1% in May, following a 0.6% increase in the previous month.

Prices climbed for transport (14.2% vs 8.3% in March), while continuing to rise for housing and utilities (7.1% vs 6.5%), restaurants and accommodation services (6.3% vs 6%), information and communication (2.8% vs 1.7%), and education (3.5% vs 3.4%). Price growth also rebounded in furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (2% vs -0.5%). In contrast, price increases slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.9% vs 2.4%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.6% vs 7.9%), health (2.8% vs 3%), recreation, sport and culture (7.3% vs 7.8%), and personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (4.1% vs 5.6%), while clothing and footwear prices declined (-0.4% vs 0.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices eased 0.6% in April after a 1.5% increase in the prior period.
