Kyrgyzstan Inflation Rate Rises to Highest Since 2023

The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan rose to 12% in August 2026, its highest level since March 2023, up from 11.5% in the previous month. Price growth accelerated sharply for transport, reaching 15.7% from 12.5%, while food inflation increased to 9.3% from 9.1%. Additional upward pressure came from higher inflation for restaurants and hotels (30.1% vs 29.2%), education (22.4% vs 22.3%), clothing and footwear (8.3% vs 8%), health (15.3% vs 14.8%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (11.2% vs 11%). In contrast, inflation slowed slightly for housing and utilities (11% vs 11.2%) and recreation and culture (13.9% vs 14.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.8%, slowing from a 1.1% increase in July.

Prices increased across several categories, including clothing and footwear (8.0% vs 7.7%), housing and utilities (11.2% vs 9.5%), restaurants and hotels (29.2% vs 25.7%), household goods and appliances (10.9% vs 9.8%), health care (14.8% vs 11.5%), recreation and culture (14.1% vs 14.0%), and various goods and services (22.1% vs 21.8%). Meanwhile, price growth eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (9.1% vs 9.2%) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (11.0% vs 12.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices accelerated to 1.1% in July from 0.7% in June, the highest since March.

Kyrgyzstan's annual inflation rate held steady at 11.0% in June 2026, unchanged from the previous month. Price pressures accelerated for transport (12.0% vs. 11.8%), restaurants and hotels (25.7% vs. 24.4%), recreation and culture (14.0% vs. 11.5%), healthcare (11.5% vs. 11.4%), clothing and footwear (7.7% vs. 7.1%), household goods and appliances (9.8% vs. 9.3%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (12.1% vs. 11.7%). Price growth for education services remained elevated at 22.3%. Meanwhile, food inflation eased to 9.2% from 9.8%, while housing and utility costs slowed slightly to 9.5% from 9.7%, helping offset broader price pressures. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.7% in June, easing from a 0.8% increase in May.
