Kyrgyzstan Industrial Output Expands at Softer Pace

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan rose 16.8% year-on-year in April 2026, easing slightly from 17.4% in the previous month. Manufacturing growth softened (20.7% vs. 22.3% in March), mainly due to slower output in basic metals (15.2% vs. 22.2%) and rubber and plastics products (12.1% vs. 19.2%). Growth in mining and quarrying also moderated (7% vs. 10.2%). Meanwhile, output rebounded for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (3.6% vs. -4.1%), while water supply growth accelerated (9.5% vs. 7.3%). In the first four months of the year, industrial activity expanded 14.7%, slightly higher than the 14.2% growth recorded in the same period a year earlier.

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan climbed 17.4% year-on-year in March 2026, up from 13.1% in the previous month. This marked the strongest expansion in industrial activity since March 2025, driven by higher output in the manufacturing sector (22.3% vs 12.9% in February), particularly in food, beverages, and tobacco products, wood and paper products, base metals and fabricated metal products, machinery and equipment, and vehicles. Additionally, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply declined at a markedly softer pace (-4.1% vs -14.6%). Meanwhile, growth moderated notably in mining and quarrying (10.2% vs 52.8%) and water supply (7.3% vs 14.8%). For the January–March 2026 period, industrial activity was 14.0% higher than in the same period a year earlier.

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan climbed 13.1% year-on-year in February 2026 from 12.7% in the previous month. This marked the strongest expansion in industrial activity since May 2025, driven by higher output in mining and quarrying (52.8% vs 37.7%) and manufacturing (12.9% vs 12.0% in January), particularly in food products and tobacco, textiles, clothing, and leather, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, machinery and equipment, and vehicles. Water supply also rose by 14.8% from 13.8% previously. Meanwhile, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply declined by 14.6%, reversing sharply from a 0.7% increase. For the January-February 2026 period, industrial activity was 15.5% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
