Israel Jobless Rate Edges Down

Israel’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 2.8% in August 2026 from 3.1% in July.
The number of unemployed declined by 17.2 thousand from the previous month and by 7 thousand from a year earlier to 131 thousand.
Meanwhile, the employment rate fell to 60% as the number of employed persons declined by 1.4 thousand to 4,397.3 thousand, although the employed population increased by 6.319 thousand from a year earlier.
The labor force participation rate edged lower to 61.8%.
The non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate also declined, reaching 2.9% from 3.3% in July.
