Cyprus’ industrial production declined 1.3% year-on-year in August 2026, reversing a 1.5% increase in July.

The decline was driven by weaker manufacturing output (-2.5% vs. 1.5% in July), particularly in machinery, motor vehicles and other transport equipment (-12.8% vs. -6.8%), refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceutical products (-7.1% vs. -2.9%), and other non-metallic mineral products (-4.8% vs. 6.0%).

Growth in water supply and materials recovery slowed to 5.7% from 8.2%.

In contrast, mining and quarrying output rose 11.0%, accelerating from 6.0% in July, while electricity supply edged up 0.1% after falling 1.1%.

For the January-August period, industrial production increased 1.2% compared with the same period a year earlier.
