Average gross monthly earnings of employees in Cyprus rose 1.2 percent year-on-year to EUR 1,848 in the first quarter of 2018, following a downwardly revised 0.6 percent gain in the last quarter of 2017. It was the biggest increase in wages since the three months to June of 2012. Wages for female employees went up 2.4 percent to EUR 1,693 and those for males increased 0.1 percent to EUR 1,976. Compared to the previous quarter, seasonally adjusted wages went up 0.4 percent to EUR 1,897.

Industrial production in Cyprus increased 7.6 percent year-on-year in April of 2018, advancing from a downwardly revised 3.4 percent rise in the previous month. It was the biggest gain in industrial activity since October of 2017, as output advanced faster for manufacturing (8.6 percent from 5.2 percent in March), mining & quarrying (4 percent from 2.3 percent) and water supply & materials recovery (7.5 percent from 2 percent). In addition, it rebounded for electricity supply (4.3 percent from -3.5 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial production dropped 3.6 percent, after an 11.9 percent jump in March.
