Cyprus Industrial Output Rebounds in March

Industrial production in Cyprus grew by 4.7% year-on-year in March 2026, reversing a 2.1% decline in the previous month. The rebound was mainly driven by a sharp increase in electricity supply (19.0% vs -13.0% in February), mining and quarrying (9.2% vs -2.1 %), and manufacturing (2.8% vs -1.7%), particularly the manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products (3.5% vs -3.9%), rubber and plastic products (7.1% vs 1.9%), and other non-metallic mineral products (4.5% vs -4.2%). Meanwhile, output growth eased for water supply and materials recovery (3.9% vs 5.2%). In the first quarter of 2026, industrial output increased 1.5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Industrial production in Cyprus fell by 2.4% year-on-year in February 2026, reversing a downwardly revised 2.7% increase in the previous month. This marked the first contraction in industrial activity since November 2024. The decline was mainly driven by a sharp drop in electricity supply (-12.7% vs 18.6% in January) and manufacturing (-1.2% vs 0.5%), while mining and quarrying eased (-2.1% vs -16.1%). In contrast, output accelerated for water supply and materials recovery (4.7% vs 4.1%), water collection, treatment and supply (8.3% vs 7.0%), and materials recovery (0.3% vs -0.1%). For the January-February 2026 period, industrial output was higher by 0.1% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Industrial production in Cyprus rose by 3.7% year-on-year in January 2026, following an upwardly revised 4.3% advance in the prior month. Output increases seen for electricity supply (18.6% vs -2.4% in December); water supply and materials recovery (6% vs 4.1%) and manufacturing (1.5% vs 5.6%) were partly offset by a sharper decline in mining and quarrying (-16.1% vs -1.7%).
