Croatia Inflation Eases to 5-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Croatia rose to 4.8% in March 2026, up from 3.8% in the previous month, according to preliminary estimates. This marks the highest level since November 2023, as energy prices rose 11.3%, services rose 7.8%, food, beverages, and tobacco rose 3.9%, and non-food industrial goods without energy decreased 0.6%. On a monthly basis, prices are estimated to have risen 1.4%, up from 0.3% in the previous month, mainly due to a 5.0% rise in energy prices.

Croatia’s inflation rate rose to 3.8% year-on-year in February 2026 from 3.4% in the previous month, marking its highest level since November 2025, in line with preliminary estimates. Prices increased in food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.9% vs 2.1% in January), housing and utilities (10.2% vs 10.1%), information and communication (3.2% vs 2.4%), recreation, sport, and culture (3.7% vs 3.3%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.7% vs 7.5%). At the same time, transport prices rebounded (0.8% vs -0.3%). Meanwhile, costs rose at a slower pace in health (3.8% vs 4.1%) and restaurants and accommodation services (6.3% vs 6.8%), while clothing and footwear prices remained stagnant after a 0.8% gain in the previous month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices in Croatia edged up 0.3% in February, unchanged from January. In EU-harmonised terms, annual inflation increased to 3.9% from 3.6%.
