Croatia Industrial Output Slows in August

Croatia’s industrial production rose by 5.2% year-on-year in August 2026, slowing from an eight-month high of 7.2% in the previous month.

Manufacturing growth eased to 4.8% from 6.7% in July, led by softer gains in coke and refined petroleum products (4.7% vs 14.6%), basic metals (1.8% vs 8.7%), and electrical equipment (79.9% vs 106.4%), alongside steeper declines in tobacco products (-14.5% vs -11.6%), textiles (-14.4%), wearing apparel (-3.1% vs -0.3%), chemicals and chemical products (-47.4% vs -35.1%), basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (-10.3% vs -3.5%), and other transport equipment (-53.4% vs -44.4%).

Mining and quarrying remained unchanged at -3.7%.

In contrast, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply rose 13.4% from 10.9% in July.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.4%, reversing a 2.3% gain in the previous month.

Over the January–August period, output was 1.8% higher than in the same period last year.

Croatia’s industrial production rose 7.2% year-on-year in July 2026, accelerating from a 4.3% increase in June and marking the strongest growth since November 2025. Production accelerated for intermediate goods (16.6% vs 14.8% in June) and energy (9.1% vs 1.2%), while output of non-durable consumer goods increased (1.7% vs -1.6%). Meanwhile, declines eased for durable consumer goods (-6.3% vs -13.8%), while capital goods remained in contraction (-7.4% vs -7.3%). By sector, manufacturing output increased 6.8% (4.0%), supported by stronger production of electrical equipment, basic metals, food products, as well as motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying rebounded (3.7% vs -6.5%), and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply surged (10.9% vs -0.7%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production increased 3.9% in July, following a 5.3% rise in June.

Industrial production in Croatia rose 4.3% year-on-year in June 2026, rebounding from a 1.1% decline in May and marking the strongest growth since November 2025. Production accelerated for intermediate goods (14.8% vs 0.4% in May), while declines eased for capital goods (-7.3% vs -11.3%) and consumer non-durables (-1.6% vs -2.8%). Meanwhile, energy production growth slowed (1.2% vs 4.6%), and consumer durables declined further (-13.8% vs -11.2%). By sector, manufacturing output recovered 4.0% after falling 2.5% in May, driven by stronger production of food (6.2% vs 0.7%), basic metals (9.3% vs 5.6%), electrical equipment (94.5% vs 13.6%), and motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers (14.4% vs 3.8%). In contrast, mining and quarrying declined further (-6.5% vs -5.1%), while electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning contracted (-0.7% vs 0.9%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity climbed 5.3% after a 1.9% decline in May.
