Baltic Dry Index Extends Rally Into 12th Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, advanced for a 12th consecutive session on Monday, rising 2.6% to its highest since early December 2025 at 2,633 points.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, also recorded the 12th successive gain, climbing about 4.2% to an over four-month high of 4,300 points.

At the same time, the supramax index increased 0.5% to 1,422 points; and the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, edged up 0.1% to 1,976 points.

Baltic Dry Index Extends to Over 4-Month High
The Baltic Exchange dry bulk freight index climbed 1.7% to 2,567 on Friday, its highest level since December 8, extending gains for an eleventh consecutive session and posting a weekly rise of 16.6%. The capesize index, which tracks vessels carrying around 150,000 tons of cargo such as iron ore and coal, jumped 2.5% to 4,128, a more than four month high. The panamax index, typically used for 60,000 to 70,000 ton shipments of coal or grain, edged up 0.3% to 1,975, the strongest level since early March. Meanwhile, the supramax index advanced 1.2% to 1,415.

Baltic Dry Index Rises to Over 4-Month High
The Baltic Exchange dry bulk freight index rose 1.6% to 2,523 on Thursday, reaching its highest level since December 9, 2025 and marking a tenth consecutive day of gains. The capesize index, which tracks vessels carrying around 150,000 tons such as iron ore and coal, climbed 1.6% to 4,026, its highest in over four months. The panamax index, covering ships that transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased 1.1% to 1,970, the strongest level since early March. Meanwhile, the supramax index gained nearly 2% to 1,398.
