Bulgaria Inflation Rate at 5-Month High

Bulgaria’s annual inflation rate edged up to 2.2% in December 2024 from 2.1% in the previous month.
This marked the highest reading since July, as prices increased for housing & utilities (2.8% vs 2.5% in November), health (1.8% vs 1.5%), and recreation & culture (3.7% vs 0.3%).
Meanwhile, costs continued to decline for clothing & footwear (-1.2% vs -0.5%), transport (-0.6% vs -3.4%), and communications (-3.2% vs -3.9%).
Additionally, inflation slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.8% vs 4.1%) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.0% vs 6.4%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4%, easing from a 0.6% gain in the preceding period.
