Belgium Producer Inflation Edges Down

Belgium’s producer price inflation eased slightly to 9.0% year-on-year in July 2026, from 9.1% in June. Lower non-domestic price inflation (9.9% vs 11.0%) was partly offset by stronger domestic inflation (8.7% vs 8.3%). Manufacturing price inflation slowed to 8.7% from 9.0%. In turn, inflation for intermediate goods eased sharply to 14.5% from 17.2%. Non-durable consumer goods remained in deflation for a tenth consecutive month, although the decline moderated to 1.5%. Energy inflation remained particularly elevated, accelerating to 20.9% from 16.6%. Meanwhile, price growth accelerated in mining and quarrying (3.1% vs 2.3%) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (13.4% vs 11.5%). On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.4%, reversing a 1.1% decline in June.

Belgium's producer price inflation eased to 9.1% year-on-year in June 2026 from 9.7% in the previous month, as domestic price pressures softened (8.3% vs 9.1%), partly offset by faster inflation in foreign markets (11.0% vs 8.2%). By sector, producer inflation slowed for manufacturing (9.0% vs 10.3%) but accelerated for mining and quarrying (2.3% vs 1.9%) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (11.5% vs 4.3%), while remaining unchanged for water supply, sewage, waste management and remediation activities (4.2%). Energy inflation eased sharply to 16.6% from 24.4%. Meanwhile, producer prices fell at a slower pace for consumer goods (-1.3% vs -2.2%), reflecting softer deflation for non-durable goods (-1.6% vs -2.4%), while inflation accelerated for intermediate goods (17.2% vs 15.7%) and durable consumer goods (4.7% vs 4.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined 1.1% in June, following a 0.8% increase in May.

Belgium's producer prices rose 9.7% year-on-year in May 2026, up from 8.7% in April and marking the strongest increase since January 2023. Price growth accelerated in both domestic and foreign markets, to 9.1% from 8.2% and 11.3% from 9.7%, respectively. By sector, manufacturing posted the largest increase, with prices up 10.3% after a 9.3% rise. Mining and quarrying accelerated to 1.9% from 0.6%, while inflation for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply edged up to 4.3% from 4.2%. Meanwhile, inflation for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities remained steady at 4.2% for a third consecutive month. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 1.1%, easing from April's 1.6% rise. Excluding energy, producer inflation accelerated to 1.9% from 1.7%.
