Annual producer inflation in Austria accelerated to 4.6% in August 2026 from 3.3% in the previous month.
It marked the highest level since March 2023, mainly driven by significant price increases for intermediate goods (7.2% vs 6.6% in July) and energy (7.2% vs 2.6%), amid ongoing supply disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict.
Prices for consumer goods also rose 0.3%, after a 0.3% fall in July.
Meanwhile, price growth for capital goods eased slightly to 1.0% from 1.1%.
On a monthly basis, the PPI increased 0.9% in August, following a 0.3% rise in July, with prices rising particularly sharply in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (3.1%) and the manufacture of basic metals (1.9%).
These increases offset declines in chemicals and chemical products (-0.9%) and paper and paper products (-0.4%).
