Producer prices in Austria increased 1.9% year-on-year in April 2026, after a flat reading in March.
This was the highest reading since May 2023, driven mainly by a sharp rise in intermediate goods prices (3.8% vs 1.2% in March).
Energy costs rose 2.0%, rebounding from a 1.7% drop in the previous month and marking the first increase in nearly three years.
Prices for capital goods increased 0.4%, following a 0.2% rise, while consumer goods prices rose 0.6%, slowing from a 0.8% advance.
On a monthly basis, the PPI rose 0.9%, easing from a 1.4% increase in March, as higher prices in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (11.3%) and basic metals (3.5%) were partly offset by declines in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-1.7%) and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (-0.1%).
