Armenia Trade Gap Widens in August

Armenia’s trade deficit widened to USD 516.2 million in August 2026 from USD 357.7 million in the same month last year. Exports increased 1.3% year-on-year to USD 573.5 million, while imports rose 14.9% to USD 1,089.7 million. Over the January–August period, the trade deficit reached USD 4,026.5 million. During this period, exports declined 6.5% year-on-year to USD 4,623.9 million, while imports climbed 9.3% to USD 8,650.4 million.

Armenia’s trade deficit widened to USD 699.1 million in July 2026 from USD 360.3 million in the same month last year, marking the largest trade shortfall since records began in January 2003. Imports rose 21.5% year-on-year to USD 1,293.4 million, while exports fell 15.7% to USD 594.3 million. From January to July, the trade deficit reached USD 3,466.9 million, as exports declined 7.9% to USD 4,035.7 million and imports increased 7.7% to USD 7,502.5 million.

Armenia's trade deficit widened to USD 540.2 million in June 2026 from USD 273.4 million in the same month of the previous year. It marked the largest trade shortfall since records began in January 2023, as imports rose 8.6% year-on-year to a four-month high of USD 1,096.9 million, while exports slumped 20.5% from a year earlier to USD 556.7 million. For the first half of 2026, the country's trade deficit expanded to USD 2.71 billion as exports declined 6.7% from a year earlier to USD 3.43 billion, while imports increased 4.0% to USD 6.14 billion.
