Armenia Inflation Rate at 2.60 percent  
Armenia's consumer prices increased 2.6 percent year-on-year in December 2017, following a 2.2 percent rise in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since September 2015, mainly due to a surge in food prices (5.5 percent from 5 percent in November). Additional upward pressure came from: transport (5.2 percent from 4.6 percent); and clothing and footwear (4.4 percent from 3 percent). On the other hand, inflation was unchanged for recreation and culture (at 1.9 percent), and slowed for: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4 percent from 4.2 percent); health (2.5 percent from 3.1 percent); education (1.2 percent from 1.3 percent); and restaurants and hotels (0.5 percent from 2.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices jumped 1.5 percent. In 2017 as a whole, the CPI rose 1 percent.

Armenia's economic activity expanded 9.2 percent year-on-year in November 2017, easing from an upwardly revised 17.6 percent advance in the previous month. Output grew at a slower pace for services (17.6 percent from 22.4 percent in October) and industry (11 percent from 16.5 percent) while agriculture activities contracted sharply (-2.1 percent from 34.7 percent). On the other hand, output expanded faster for retail trade (22.6 percent from 19.7 percent in October) and construction activity (6.9 percent from 6.2 percent).
