Albania GDP Growth Eases to 3.61% in Q2

Albania's GDP grew 3.61% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, easing slightly from 3.71% in the previous quarter. The largest gains were recorded for public administration, education and health (12.1% vs 14% in Q1), followed by real estate activities (7.2% vs 9%), trade, transport, accommodation and food services (5.5% vs 1.6%), financial and insurance (3.5% vs 5%), information and communication (2.6% vs 2.6%), construction (1.4% vs 3.4%) and industry, electricity and water (0.5% vs -2.1%). In contrast, agriculture, forestry and fishing (-2.3% vs -0.5%), professional and administrative activities (-2.2% vs 7.2%) and arts, entertainment and recreation (-2.1% vs -3.5%) weighed down on the growth. On a quarterly basis, the economy expanded 0.8%, the same pace as in the previous quarter.

Growth was driven by public administration, education and health (13.9%), followed by real estate activities (9%), professional and administrative activities (7.3%), building (3.3%), trade, transportations, acommodation and food services (1.6%), financial and insurance (5%) and information and communication (2.5%). In contrast, mining, processing, electricity and water activities (-2.2%), recreational and entertainment (-3.5%) and agriculture, forestry and fishing (-0.5%) weighed on growth. On the expenditure side, household consumption and investment both rose 3.9%, while exports (9.4%) outpaced imports (7.4%). Government spending fell 1.4%. On a quarterly basis, the economy expanded 0.8%, down from 1.0% in the previous quarter.

The GDP in Albania expanded 3.8% year-on-year in Q4 2025, easing slightly from 3.9% growth in Q3. The largest upward contributions came from public administration, education and health (8.3%); construction (7.4%); real estate (6.3%); financial and insurance (2.8%); trade, transport, accommodation and food services (1.1%); arts, entertainment and recreation services (0.8%); and professional and administrative services (0.1%). On the other hand, declines were recorded in information and communication (-3.6%); agriculture, forestry and fishing (-2.2%); and industry, electricity and water (-1.6%). On the expenditure side, household consumption rose by 3.0%, investment went up by 6.7%, government expenditure increased by 1.8%, exports soared by 10.7% and imports jumped by 6.6%. On a quarterly basis, GDP expanded by 0.9%. For full-year 2025, the economy grew by 3.8% compared with 2024.
