Also, prices continued to be unchanged for furniture & household equipment. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 1.2 percent, following a 0.5 percent decrease in April.

Producer prices in Albania increased 1 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2018, easing from a 2 percent rise in the previous period. It was the lowest producer inflation since deflation ended in the third quarter of 2016, as prices slowed for mining & quarrying (4.5 percent from 7.8 percent in Q4 of 2017). Also, prices fell for manufacturing (-0.5 percent from 1.6 percent), mainly metallurgy (-0.4 percent from 6.2 percent) and other transport equipment (-0.1 percent from 0.7 percent). On the other hand, prices rebounded for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (1.2 percent from -0.1 percent) and cost advanced faster for water supply, treatment activities & waste management (2.9 percent from 1.4 percent). On a quarterly basis, producer prices went up 0.5 percent, after a 1.7 percent gain in the last quarter of 2017.

It was the lowest expansion since the third quarter of 2016. Growth eased for household consumption (3.14 percent compared to 3.58 percent in Q3) and fixed investment (4.09 percent compared to 4.67 percent). Additionally, government spending dropped 1.84 percent after increasing 2.05 percent in the third quarter. Also, exports fell by 3.77 percent (12.01 percent in Q3) while imports advanced faster at a faster 10.98 percent (9.55 percent in Q3). On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the GDP rose by 0.65 percent. Considering full 2017, the economy expanded 3.84 percent.
