Tunisia Inflation Rate Hits Near 1-1/2-Year High

Tunisia’s annual inflation rate rose to 5.6% in September 2026 from 5.2% in August, its highest level since April 2025 and the second consecutive monthly increase.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages led the increase, with inflation accelerating to 8.4% from 7.5%.
Prices increased notably for poultry meat and fresh fruit (16.5% each), sheep meat (14.6%), beef (13%), vegetables (12.9%) and fresh fish (10.4%).
Additional upward pressure came primarily from clothing & footwear (9.2% vs 9%); restaurants & hotels (6.5% vs 6.6%); education (5.5% vs 5.4%); miscellaneous goods & services (5.1% vs 5.2%) and housing & utilities (4.3% vs 4.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.8% in September, after rising by 0.5% in the prior month.
