Tunisia Inflation Rate Steady at 4.9% for 3rd Month

Tunisia's inflation rate stood at an over 4-1/2-year low of 4.9% for the third month in December 2025, unchanged from the prior month.

Prices advanced at s slower pace primarily for restaurants & hotels (6% vs 6.2% in November); recreation & culture (4.3% vs 4.4%); health (3.7% vs 3.8%); transportation (2.8% vs 2.9%); and health (0.6% vs 0.7%).

On the other hand.

prices accelerated for food & non-alcoholic beverages (6.1% vs 5.8%), while inflation remained elevated for clothing & footwear (at 9.1%) and miscellaneous goods & services (at 5.8%).

On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.2% in December, after a 0.1% increase in the previous month.

Tunisia's inflation rate edged down to 4.8% in January 2025, the lowest since March 2021, from 4.9% in each of the previous three months. The slowdown in inflation was mainly due to softer increases in prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.9% vs 6.1% in December); restaurants & hotels (5.5% vs 6%); miscellaneous goods & services (5.6% vs 5.8%); health (3% vs 3.7%) and transportation (2.6% vs 2.8%). On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.3% in January, after a 0.2% increase in the prior month.

Softer increases were seen in prices of restaurants & hotels (6.2% vs 7.5% in October); miscellaneous goods & services (5.8% vs 5.9%); furnishings & household equipment (4.8% vs 4.9%); recreation & culture (4.4% vs 4.5%) and transportation (2.9% vs 3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up by 0.1% in November, slowing from a 0.7% increase in the prior month.
