Tunisia Inflation Rate Rises to 5%

The annual inflation rate in Tunisia increased to 5% in February 2026, up from 4.8% in January.

The acceleration was mainly driven by stronger price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages (6.7% versus 5.9%), housing and utilities (3.9% versus 3.5%), and restaurants and hotels (5.6% versus 5.5%).

In contrast, inflation slowed in several categories, including transport (2.1% versus 2.6%), clothing and footwear (8.9% versus 10%), furnishings and household equipment (4.7% versus 4.9%), health (2.9% versus 3%), education (5.4% versus 5.5%), and recreation and culture (4.4% versus 4.5%).

Meanwhile, prices continued to rise modestly for communication (0.6%) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.3%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.1% in February, easing from 0.3% in the previous month.

Tunisia Inflation Rate Slows to 5.3%
Tunisia's annual inflation rate eased to 5.3% in June 2026 from 5.5% in May, marking its lowest level in three months. The slowdown was mainly driven by softer price increases for food and beverages (7.1% vs. 8.2% in May). On the other hand, inflation accelerated for housing and utilities (4.3% vs. 4.2%), health (2.9% vs. 2.8%), transport (2.4% vs. 2.3%), and recreation and culture (4.4% vs. 4.3%). Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes food and energy, edged up to 4.9% from 4.8%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.2%, easing from a 0.3% increase in May, as higher clothing and footwear (1.7%) and restaurant and hotel prices (1.0%) were partly offset by a 0.9% decline in food and beverage prices.

Tunisia's inflation rate stood at 5.5% in May 2026, the highest in a year, matching the same level of April. Upward pressure continue to come mainly from food & non-alcoholic beverages (8.2% vs 8.2% in April); clothing & footwear (9.1% vs 9.3%) and restaurants & hotels (6.3% vs 6.2%). Prices also increased slightly faster for housing & utilities (4.2% vs 4.1%) and transportation (2.3% vs 2.2%). On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.3%, following a 1.1% advance in the prior month.

Tunisia Inflation Rate Quickens to 1-Year High
The annual inflation rate in Tunisia rose to 5.5% in April 2026, the highest in a year, from 5% in each of the previous two months. Main upward pressure stemmed from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (8.2% vs 6.8% in March); clothing & footwear (9.3% vs 7.5%) and restaurants & hotels (6.2% vs 6.2%). Meanwhile, price growth slowed for some CPI categories, including transportation (2.2% vs 2.8%) and furnishings and household equipment (4.5% vs. 4.8%). On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 1.1% in April, after a 1% increase in the prior month.
