Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Jump 30.2% in September

The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka soared by 30.2% year-on-year to 158,971 in September 2025, following a 20.4% surge in the previous month.
This figure marks the highest-ever tourist arrivals for the month of September, surpassing the previous record set in the benchmark year of 2018.
Among key source markets, India (31.3%) remained the top contributor, followed by the United Kingdom (6.8%), China (6.6%), Germany (5.9%), and Australia (5.7%).
For the first nine months of the year, foreign tourist arrivals rose by 16.2% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 1,725,494.
However, on a monthly basis, foreign tourist arrivals plunged by 19.8%.
