Slovenia Unemployment Rate Falls in February

Slovenia’s unemployment rate edged down to 4.9% in February 2026 from 5% in the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons decreased 2,336 month-on-month to 48,096.

The unemployment rate for women was 5.2%, compared with 4.6% for men.

By age group, unemployment stood at 7.4% for those aged 15-29, 5% for those 50 and older, and 6.1% for those 55 and above.

For comparison, the jobless rate was 4.9% in February of the previous year.

Meanwhile, employers reported 11,713 job vacancies, 4.7% fewer than a year ago, and 23,665 openings over the first two months of 2026, lower by 6.9% from the same period last year.

Slovenia’s unemployment rate edged down to 4.4% in May 2026 from 4.5% in the previous month, marking its lowest level since June 2025. The total number of unemployed persons declined by 1,115 from the previous month to 43,060. Women accounted for 20,905 unemployed individuals, representing 48.5% of the total, while men made up the remaining 51.5%, or 22,155 people. Across age groups, the highest unemployment rate was recorded among those aged 50–54, at 7.1% (4,428 individuals), followed by those aged 15–24, at 6.4% (4,513 individuals). Meanwhile, the number of first-time job seekers decreased by 203 to 7,637, pointing to fewer new entrants into unemployment, while the number of registered job vacancies stood at 13,013 in May.

Slovenia's unemployment rate edged down to 4.5% in April 2026, the lowest in eight months, from 4.6% in March, as the number of unemployed persons fell by 1,115 over the month to 44,175. Women accounted for 20,905 unemployed individuals, while men totaled 22,155, corresponding to unemployment rates of 4.8% and 4.2%, respectively. By age group, unemployment was highest among those aged 15–29, at 6.7%, followed by individuals aged 55 and over, at 5.7%. Compared with the same month a year earlier, the overall unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.5%. Employers reported 11,437 job openings in April, and during the first four months of 2026, total job openings reached 48,085, representing a 5.2% decline compared with the same period last year.

Slovenia's unemployment rate lowered to 4.6% in March 2026, down from 4.9% in February. The number of unemployed persons declined by 1,585 over the month to 45,760. Of the total unemployed, 21,413 were women, representing 48.5%, while men accounted for 22,762. Compared with the same month a year earlier, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.6%. Meanwhile, employers reported 12,983 job openings, down 2.7% from March 2025. In the first quarter of 2026, total vacancies reached 36,648, 5.5% compared with the same period last year.
