Singapore’s manufacturing production surged 15.4% year-on-year in August 2026, accelerating from a downwardly revised 6.8% in the previous month.

The expansion was driven by sustained demand related to artificial intelligence, with output in the precision engineering cluster surging 33.9% amid higher production of semiconductor equipment in the machinery and systems segment.

The electronics industry also soared 28.5%, supported by strong production of servers and related products, semiconductors and data storage products.

Moreover, transport engineering output increased 9.5%, while biomedical manufacturing rose 0.4%.

In contrast, chemicals output slumped 12.7%, dragged down by declines in the petroleum and petrochemicals segments.

On a monthly basis, manufacturing output slipped 0.5%, reversing a 2.3% increase in July.
