Seychelles Inflation Highest Since 2024

The annual inflation rate in Seychelles climbed to 1.22% in September 2026 from 0.93% in the previous month, marking the highest reading since December 2024.
Inflation accelerated across all major groups, with fish prices rising 6.07% year-on-year (2.83% in August), while non-food and other food prices increased to 1.28% and 0.32%, respectively, from 1% and 0.28% in the previous month.
Within non-food items, prices rose fastest for alcoholic beverages (5.25% vs 4.53%), transport (4.84% vs 3.46%), restaurants and hotels (3.43% vs 2.84%), and education (2.49% vs 2.21%).
Other food prices were driven by vegetables (4.01% vs 3.85%), non-alcoholic beverages (2.77% vs 2.19%), and meat (1.98% vs 1.51%), while oils and fats eased to 3.79% from 4.65%.
Meanwhile, annual core inflation rose to 1.24% from 0.97% in August.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.24%, up from 0.18% in August.
