Seychelles Inflation Rate Speeds Up for 3rd Month

Seychelles’ annual inflation rate rose to 0.93% in August 2026, its highest level since January 2025, from 0.78% in July, extending the upward trend for a third consecutive month.

Non-food inflation quickened to 1% from 0.81%, driven mainly by faster price increases for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.53% vs 4.17%), transportation (3.46% vs 2.48%), and furnishings and household equipment (0.75% vs 0.60%).

Fresh fish prices rose 2.83%, easing from 4.87% in the prior month, while other food products' inflation rose to 0.28% from 0.14%, on account of prices of oils & fats (4.65%); vegetables (3.85%) and meat (1.51%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.18% in August, slowing from a 0.52% increase in the month before.

Seychelles Annual Inflation Accelerates in July
The annual inflation rate in Seychelles rose to 0.78% in July 2026, accelerating from 0.43% in the prior month and reaching its highest level since January 2025. Fish prices rose 4.87%, easing from 5.62% in the prior month, while other food products' inflation rose to 0.14% from 0.09%, driven by higher prices in oil and fats (5.47%), vegetabels (2.84%) and non-alcoholic beverages (2.7%). Meanwhile, non-food inflation accelerated to 0.81% from 0.4%, driven by higher prices in alcoholic beverages (4.17%), restaurants and hotels (3.43%), education (2.49%) and transport (2.48%), while prices declined for health (-3.18%), recreation and culture (-2.92%), clothing and footwear (-2.61%) and tobacco (-0.57%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.52%, accelerating from 0.07% in the prior month.

Seychelles Inflation Rate Accelerates
The annual inflation rate in Seychelles increased to 0.43% in June 2026, marking the highest level since September 2025, up from 0.29% in May. Fish prices rose 5.62%, reversing a 0.85% decline in the prior month while other food cost rose 0.09% following a 0.39% decline. Non-food prices rose 0.4%, unchanged from the previous month, with the largest increases recorded in alcoholic beverages (4.13%), restaurants and hotels (at 2.58%), transports (2.57%) and clothing and footwear (0.52%). In contrast, the largest decreases were recorded for recreation and culture (-3.31%), health (-2.5%), housing and utilities (-1.12%) and communication (-1.09%). Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes fresh fish and energy items, rose to 0.52% from 0.48%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.07% in June, easing from a 0.15% increase in May.
