Paraguay Posts Trade Surplus in May

Paraguay’s trade balance swung to a $98.1 million surplus in May 2026 from a $201.3 million deficit in the same month a year earlier.
Exports rose 22.6% year-on-year to $1.70 billion, driven mainly by a 58.4% increase in primary goods shipments.
Exports of industrial manufactures advanced 33.4%, while exports of agricultural manufactures fell 7.5%.
Shipments of fuels and energy declined 19.6%.
Meanwhile, imports increased 0.8% to $1.60 billion.
Purchases of consumer goods rose 6.4%, while imports of intermediate goods increased 20.4%.
In contrast, imports of capital goods fell 13.7%.
