Moldova Producer Prices Lowest Since 2024

Producer prices in Moldova fell 0.1% year-on-year in May 2026, following a 1.1% rise in the previous month, marking the lowest reading since December 2024.

Cost pressures eased in the manufacturing sector (0.9% vs. 2.4% in April), driven by slower price growth for food products (2.2% vs. 2.4%), coke and refined petroleum products (0.6% vs. 2.4%), and electrical equipment (0.8% vs. 0.9%), while price increases accelerated for the manufacture dairy products (3.2% vs. 1.6%), chemicals and chemical products (2.8% vs. 1.3%), and rubber and plastic products (3.4% vs. 1.5%).

Additionally, prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply fell to 12.8%, matching the pace recorded in April.

In contrast, producer prices in mining and quarrying rose at a faster pace (6.5% vs. 5.5%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.4% in May, unchanged from the previous month.

Producer prices in Moldova rose by 1.1% year-on-year in April 2026, easing slightly from 1.2% in the previous month. Costs declined further for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (-12.8% vs -9.2% in March), weighed down by decreases in electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution (-14% vs -8.3%) and production of electricity (-21.4% vs -21.7%). In contrast, price growth edged up in manufacturing (2.4% vs 2.3%), driven largely by a recovery in costs of wearing apparel (0.7% vs -0.1%), fabricated metal products (1.3% vs -0.1%), and pasta and noodle products (1.1% vs -1.6%). Costs also increased in mining and quarrying (5.5% vs 4.2%). On a monthly basis, producer prices grew by 0.4% in April, rebounding from a 0.4% drop in the preceding period.

Producer prices in Moldova rose by 1.2% year-on-year in March 2026, easing from 2.2% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since December 2024 as inflation slowed in manufacturing (2.3% vs 2.9% in February), weighed down by lower manufacturing costs in food products (2.6% vs 3.7%), prepared animal feeds (2.4% vs 9.5%), leather and related products (0.1% vs 2.7%), paper and paper products (2.4% vs 3.6%), and chemical and chemical products (3.1% vs 5.7%). At the same time, prices decreased for mining and quarrying (4.2% vs 4.8%) and declined at a sharper pace for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (-9.2% vs -5.4%). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 0.4% in March, following a 0.2% contraction in the preceding period.
