Moldova Producer Inflation Eases to 13-Month Low

Producer prices in Moldova rose by 2.2% year-on-year in February 2026, easing from 3.5% in the previous month.

This marked the lowest reading since January 2025 as inflation slowed in mining and quarrying (4.8% vs 5.7% in January), while prices declined sharply in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (-5.4% vs 9.3%).

In contrast, costs edged up in manufacturing (2.9% vs 2.8%), lifted by price increases in the manufacture of food products (3.7% vs 3.1%), leather and related products (2.7% vs 0.3%), and rubber and plastic products (0.5% vs -0.4%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 0.2%, following a flat reading in the previous two months.

Producer prices in Moldova rose by 1.2% year-on-year in March 2026, easing from 2.2% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since December 2024 as inflation slowed in manufacturing (2.3% vs 2.9% in February), weighed down by lower manufacturing costs in food products (2.6% vs 3.7%), prepared animal feeds (2.4% vs 9.5%), leather and related products (0.1% vs 2.7%), paper and paper products (2.4% vs 3.6%), and chemical and chemical products (3.1% vs 5.7%). At the same time, prices decreased for mining and quarrying (4.2% vs 4.8%) and declined at a sharper pace for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (-9.2% vs -5.4%). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 0.4% in March, following a 0.2% contraction in the preceding period.

Producer prices in Moldova rose by 6.3% year-on-year in December 2025, easing from 6.4% in the previous two months. Price growth slowed in mining and quarrying (7.6% vs 8.9% in November) and manufacturing (3.5% vs 3.6% in November), particularly in the manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats and dairy products. Meanwhile, costs in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply stood at 35%, unchanged from November. On a monthly basis, producer prices recorded a flat reading in December, following a 0.1% increase in the preceding period.
