Lithuania Current Account Shifts to Surplus

Lithuania’s current account posted a surplus of EUR 185.63 million in January 2026, shifting from a deficit of EUR 49.16 million in the same month a year earlier.

The services account surplus widened to EUR 644.51 million from EUR 437.47 million, while the secondary income balance improved to a surplus of EUR 10.86 million from a deficit of EUR 37.53 million.

Additionally, the primary income deficit narrowed to EUR 120.34 million from EUR 154.65 million.

On the other hand, the goods account deficit increased sharply to EUR 349.40 million from EUR 294.45 million.

Lithuania Current Account Surplus at 18-Month High
Lithuania’s current account surplus widened sharply to EUR 497.20 million in March 2026, up from EUR 62.01 million in the same month of the previous year. This marked the largest surplus since September 2024, driven by an expansion in the services account surplus, which rose to EUR 967.42 million from EUR 916.29 million, and an increase in the secondary income surplus to EUR 169.96 million from EUR 40.11 million in March 2025. Additionally, the goods account deficit narrowed to EUR 562.20 million from EUR 755.88 million, while the primary income deficit also decreased significantly to EUR 77.98 million from EUR 138.51 million.

Lithuania Current Account Highest in Over a Year
Lithuania’s current account recorded a surplus of EUR 395.49 million in February 2026, shifting from a deficit of EUR 33.03 million in the same month a year earlier and marking the highest surplus since September 2024. The improvement was driven by a wider services surplus, which increased to EUR 904.75 million from EUR 725.62 million, alongside a turnaround in the secondary income balance to a surplus of EUR 90.36 million from a deficit of EUR 6.15 million. At the same time, the primary income deficit narrowed to EUR 88.62 million from EUR 152.45 million, while the goods account deficit also shrank to EUR 511.00 million from EUR 600.05 million.
