Lithuania Current Account Surplus Widens in October

Lithuania’s current account surplus widened to EUR 527.71 million in October 2025 from EUR 205.10 million in the same month a year earlier, marking the largest surplus since September 2024.

The services surplus increased to EUR 956.65 million from EUR 913.83 million.

In addition, the primary income balance swung to a surplus of EUR 6.06 million from a deficit of EUR 195.38 million last year, while the secondary income balance also shifted to a surplus of EUR 74.92 million from a deficit of EUR 26.60 million.

These improvements more than offset a wider deficit in the goods account, which expanded to EUR 509.92 million from EUR 486.75 million a year ago.

Lithuania’s current account surplus widened sharply to EUR 473.01 million in December 2025 from EUR 24.71 million in the same month a year earlier. The services account surplus expanded to EUR 908.90 million from EUR 713.60 million, while the secondary income surplus increased to EUR 109.97 million from EUR 95.68 million in the previous year. Additionally, the goods account deficit narrowed to EUR 488.25 million from EUR 629.13 million, and the primary income deficit decreased to EUR 57.61 million from EUR 155.44 million. For the full year, Lithuania recorded a current account deficit of EUR 204.79 million, compared with a surplus of EUR 1.43 billion last year.

Lithuania Current Account Swings to Surplus
Lithuania’s current account posted a surplus of EUR 143.24 million in November 2025, shifting from a deficit of EUR 138.28 million in the same month a year earlier. The services account surplus expanded to EUR 758.53 million from EUR 576.22 million. At the same time, the secondary income balance swung to a surplus of EUR 31.95 million from a deficit of EUR 38.32 million last year, while the primary income deficit narrowed to EUR 123.72 million from EUR 227.25 million. Meanwhile, the goods account deficit widened to EUR 523.52 million from EUR 448.93 million, as import growth continued to outpace exports.
