Kyrgyzstan Inflation at 5-Month High

The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan inched up to 9.5% in January 2026 from 9.4% in the previous month.
This marked the highest reading since August, driven by faster price increases for housing and utilities (14.9% vs 14% in December), household appliances (6.2% vs 4.8%), transport (9.4% vs 7.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (16.1% vs 14.9%).
Additionally, inflation remained unchanged for food and non-alcoholic beverages (at 9.9%).
On the other hand, costs increased at a slower pace for healthcare (11.2% vs 11.6%), education (23% vs 26.4%), and restaurants and hotels (6.7% vs 7.2%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.8% in January, easing from 1% gain in the preceding period.
