Kyrgyzstan Industrial Output Contracts in August

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan fell 9.6% year-on-year in August 2026, reversing a 6.3% increase in the previous month and marking the first decline after ten consecutive months of annual growth. Production dropped in manufacturing (-11.2% vs 0.4% in July), weighed down by declines in food products, textiles, computers, electronic and optical equipment, and other manufacturing, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment. Output also declined in mining and quarrying (-3.6% vs 38.5%), as well as electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-9.8% vs 4.7%). Meanwhile, growth eased in water supply, waste treatment, and recovery of secondary raw materials (19.6% vs 20.3%). Over January-August, industrial output expanded 8.8%, slowing from 12.9% in the same period last year.

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan rose 6.3% year-on-year in July 2026, up from 5.0% in the previous month. Production rebounded in mining and quarrying (38.5% vs -13.8% in June), while output continued to increase in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (4.7% vs 2.3%), as well as water supply, waste treatment, and recovery of secondary raw materials (20.3% vs 19.7%). In contrast, manufacturing growth eased sharply (0.4% vs 9.6%), weighed down by declines in wood, paper products, and printing activities (-29.2% vs 92.3%), pharmaceutical products (-75.9% vs 96.0%), and other production, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment (-13.8% vs 11.6%). Over the January–July period, industrial output expanded 11.2%, slowing from 12.6% in the same period last year.

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan grew by 5.0% year-on-year in June 2026, marking the lowest level in eight months and slowing further from a 13.4% increase in the previous month. Mining activities declined sharply by 13.8%, following a 6.4% increase in the previous month. Other sectors also eased significantly, with manufacturing activities slowing to 9.6% growth from 16.9% and supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning eased to 2.3% from 27.3%. A further decline in activity was halted by a 19.7% surge in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities, materials recovery, reversing a 3.4% decline in the previous period. Over the first half of the year, industrial output expanded 12.7%, a higher pace compared to 12.5% recorded in the same period a year earlier.
