Kazakhstan Industrial Output Picks Up

Kazakhstan’s industrial production grew 1% year-on-year in August 2026, picking up from a six-month low of 0.1% in the previous month. Mining and quarrying output contracted at a slower pace (-3.9% vs -7.1% in July), while manufacturing growth was stable at 4.2%. Meanwhile, production eased in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning sector (13.3% vs 22.7%) and water supply; collection, treatment and disposal of waste, activities for the elimination of pollution sector (6.9% vs 7.8%). Output increased in sixteen regions of the republic, while declines were recorded in Akmola, Atyrau, Batys Kazakhstan and Shygys Kazakhstan regions. On a monthly basis, industrial production surged 14%, rebounding sharply from a 6.1% fall in July and reaching its highest reading since March.

Kazakhstan’s industrial production rose by 0.1% year-on-year in July 2026, easing sharply from an 8.2% jump in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading in six months, as growth slowed in the manufacturing industry to 4.2% from 13.7%. At the same time, activity fell in mining and quarrying, declining 7.1% after a 1.8% rise in June, driven largely by decreases in crude oil production (91.1% vs 91.6%) and natural gas production (94.5% vs 95.9%). In contrast, production increased in electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air-conditioning, rising to 22.7% from 16.9%, while activity rebounded in water supply, water drainage, waste collection, treatment, and disposal, and pollution abatement services, to 7.8% from a 1.3% drop a month earlier. In the January–July period, industrial production rose by 3.0% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Kazakhstan’s industrial production rose 8.2% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from 4.7% in the previous month. The largest jump was recorded in the manufacturing sector, surging 13.7% from 5.2% in the previous month, followed by the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning, edging up to 16.9% from 16%. Meanwhile, mining quarrying output slowed to 1.8% from 3%, largely due to a decrease in production of crude oil and natural gas. Activity in water supply, water drainage, waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution abatement services contracted 1.3% after a 2.9% increase in the previous month. For the first half of the year, industrial production rose 3.5% compared to the same period a year earlier.
