Hungary Producer Inflation Hits 14-Month High

Producer prices in Hungary rose by 4.8% year-on-year in August 2026, marking the fastest increase since June 2025 and accelerating from a 1.0% gain in the previous month.
Prices increased sharply for both domestic (5% vs 2.5% in July) and non-domestic output (4.7% vs 0.3%).
By sector, producer inflation accelerated for electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (23.8% vs 9.7%), while costs rebounded for manufacturing (1.6% vs -0.8%).
Price growth also rose faster for water collection, treatment and supply (3.9% vs 3.5%).
In contrast, prices declined further for mining and quarrying (-2.8% vs -2.6%).
On a monthly basis, producer prices grew by 2.9% in August, following a 1.4% gain in the preceding period.
