Hungary Producer Prices Rebound in July

Producer prices in Hungary rose 1.0% year-on-year in July 2026, the most since March, rebounding from a 0.4% fall in the previous month. Prices for domestic output increased at a faster rate (2.5% vs 1.8% in June), while prices for non-domestic output rebounded (0.3% vs -1.4%). By sector, prices in mining and quarrying (-2.6% vs -3.1%) and manufacturing (-0.8% vs -2.2%) fell at a slower pace. At the same time, price growth accelerated in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (9.7% vs 8.8%) and water collection, treatment and supply (3.5% vs 2.5%). On a monthly basis, producer prices jumped 1.4%, following a 0.1% increase in June.

Producer prices in Hungary decreased by 0.4% year-on-year in June 2026, following a 0.7% decline in the previous month. Non-domestic output prices continued to fall, albeit at a slower pace (-1.4% vs -1.8% in May), while growth in domestic output prices eased (1.8% vs 1.9%). By sector, prices in mining and quarrying declined (-3.1% vs 0.4%), while inflation for water collection, treatment and supply eased (2.5% vs 2.7%). Meanwhile, the decline in overall industrial producer prices moderated (-0.4% vs -0.7%), while price growth for electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply accelerated (8.8% vs 7.5%). Manufacturing producer prices remained in decline at 2.2%. On a monthly basis, producer prices ticked up by 0.1%, reversing a 1.7% decline in the previous month.

Producer prices in Hungary decreased by 0.7% year-on-year in May 2026, reversing a 0.3% rise in the previous month. Non-domestic output prices continued to drop (-1.8% vs -0.5% in April), while growth in domestic output prices eased (1.9% vs 2.2%). By sector, manufacturing costs fell further (-2.2% vs -1.1%), driven by sharper declines in transport equipment (-9.1% vs -6.1%) and machinery and equipment n.e.c. (-5.9% vs -4.4%). Slower increases were also recorded in prices for mining and quarrying (0.4% vs 1.4%) and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (7.5% vs 8.0%). On the other hand, price growth for water collection, treatment, and supply picked up (2.7% vs 2.2%). On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped by 1.7%, the largest fall since April 2023, following a 1.3% decline in the prior month.
