Hungary Manufacturing Growth at 9-Month High

Manufacturing PMI in Hungary rose 53.2 in September 2026 from an upwardly revised 51.5 in August, remaining above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction and the highest recorded since December 2025.

The September PMI was also above the long-term monthly average of 52.6 and the average September reading of 51.9 over the past three years.

The faster expansion was supported by stronger new orders and production, with both indices rising and remaining in expansion territory.

Meanwhile, the employment index increased and showed expansion, while both export and import indicators also rose and recorded growth.

On prices, the purchase price index increased and continued to signal a sharp rise in prices.

The moderation reflected weaker new orders, although they remained in expansion territory, while production volumes fell from the previous month but continued to expand. Meanwhile, the purchase price index eased but continued to signal a strong rise in input costs. The employment index edged down but remained in expansion, while both export and import indicators also pointed to continued growth.
