Hungary’s Manufacturing PMI edged down to 51.3 in August 2026 from 51.4 in July, remaining above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction.

The reading fell below its long-term monthly average of 52.7 but remained above the average August level of 49.7 recorded over the past three years, indicating continued growth in manufacturing activity despite a slower pace.

The moderation reflected weaker new orders, although they remained in expansion territory, while production volumes fell from the previous month but continued to expand.

Meanwhile, the purchase price index eased but continued to signal a strong rise in input costs.

The employment index edged down but remained in expansion, while both export and import indicators also pointed to continued growth.
