Greece Inflation Rate at 4-Month High

The annual inflation rate in Greece jumped by 5.0% in September 2026 from 3.8% in the previous month, marking the highest reading in four months.
Prices increased for housing utilities (14.7% vs 9.7% in August), transportation (11.3% vs 7.7%), recreation and culture (1.6% vs 1.2%), education (2.9% vs 2.8%), furnishings and household equipment (0.6% vs 0.3%), restaurants and hotels (6.9% vs 6.0%), insurance and financial services (3.5% vs 3.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1.5% vs 0.7%).
Moreover, costs stagnated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco after falling by 0.6%, while prices dropped at a softer pace for information and communication (-1.9% vs -2.6%).
Meanwhile, price growth eased for clothing and footwear (0.3% vs 5.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices grew by 2.1% in September, following a 0.4% increase in the preceding period.
