Greece Inflation Rate at 3-Month Low

The inflation rate in Greece rose by 4.4% year-on-year in May 2026, easing from 5.2% in the previous month.
This marked the slowest growth in three months as costs moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.7% vs 3.5% in April), housing utilities (10.6% vs 11.6%), health (1.1% vs 1.2%), transportation (7.2% vs 11.5%), and restaurants and hotels (7.7% vs 8.5%).
Additionally, price growth remained steady for education (at 2.8%).
On the other hand, prices increased for miscellaneous goods and services (1.1% vs 0.9%), while costs recovered for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.3% vs -0.1%) and clothing and footwear (0.5% vs -0.9%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices recorded a flat reading in May, unchanged from the preceding period.
Meanwhile, the EU-harmonised annual inflation rate rose 3.9%, slowing from 4.9% in April.
