Greece’s economy expanded 0.3% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026, up from 0.2% in the previous period, which marked the weakest growth rate since a 0.3% contraction in Q3 2023.
The expansion was driven by a rebound in household consumption (0.9% vs -0.3% in Q1) and fixed investment (2.2% vs -2.5%).
Meanwhile, government spending declined (-2.1% vs 4.2%), weighing on overall GDP.
Net external demand also contributed negatively to GDP, as imports of goods and services rose (0.6% vs 0.8%), outpacing the more modest increase in exports (0.5% vs 0.4%).
On an annual basis, GDP advanced 1.9%, slowing from 2.0% in the preceding quarter and marking the lowest reading since Q2 2025.
