Greece Construction Output Rises in Q3

Construction output in Greece rose by 3.3% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, following a downwardly revised 5.6% increase in the previous quarter.

This marked the second consecutive quarter of growth in construction activity, supported by a faster rise in the output of residential and non-residential building construction (9.8% vs 9.2% in Q2) and a rebound in specialised construction activities (6.6% vs -3.5%).

On the other hand, construction output in civil engineering contracted by 6%, reversing from a 13% gain in the prior quarter.

On a quarterly basis, construction activity fell by 2.3% in Q3, slipping from a downwardly revised 41.9% growth in the preceding period.

Greece Construction Output Accelerates in Q1
Construction output in Greece increased by 16.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, following a 3.0% growth in the previous quarter. This marked the strongest pace of expansion in construction activity since the fourth quarter of 2024, as overall output rose notably in specialised construction activities, accelerating to 22.3% from 11.4% in Q4 2025. At the same time, activity in civil engineering rebounded, increasing by 6.7% after previously recording a sharp decline of 15.0%. Meanwhile, output in residential and non-residential building construction eased slightly, coming in at 19.2% compared with 20.2% in the prior quarter. On a quarterly basis, construction output fell by 44.6% in Q1, sharply reversing from a 51.7% surge in the preceding period.

Construction output in Greece rose by 3% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, following a 3.3% growth in the previous quarter. Output increased sharply in residential and non-residential building construction (20.2% vs 9.6%) and specialised construction activities (11.4% vs 6.6%). Meanwhile, activity in civil engineering recorded a steeper contraction, declining by 15% compared with a 6% fall in Q3. On a quarterly basis, construction output jumped 51.7% in Q4, rebounding from an upwardly revised 2.4% drop in the preceding period. For the full year, Greece’s construction activity grew by 2.5% compared to 19.9% in 2024.
